HISTORY OF SALASAR BALAJI TEMPLE
In Asota, a farmer was sowing his field when his plow suddenly collided with a rocky object. On digging at that place he finds an idol. The farmer removes that idol and puts it somewhere else and starts sowing his field.
After a while, a severe pain starts in the stomach of that farmer. When the farmer calls his wife, she quickly reaches her husband. On being asked by his wife about his stomach pain, the farmer tells his wife about the idol that came out of the ground and then about the sudden pain in his stomach. Seeing understanding, the farmer’s wife immediately went to the idol that came out of the ground and cleaned the mud on it. After cleaning the mud on the idol, Hanuman ji appeared in front of the farmer’s wife with Lord Rama and Lakshmana sitting on his shoulders.
The farmer’s wife installed that black stone idol near a big tree nearby and apologized for the crime committed by the farmer unknowingly. Only after doing this, the stomachache of the farmer ends completely and the farmer becomes completely healthy. The news of this miracle related to the idol spread like fire in the whole village.
Thakur Champawat of Asota also comes to visit this idol and also takes the idol to his mansion. Thakur Champawat saw Balaji in his dream the same night and ordered to send that idol to Salasar. Next morning Thakur Champawat decorates a bullock cart under the protection of his soldiers and with hymns, leaves to take the idol from Asota to Salasar, same night Balaji appears in Mohandas ji’s dream and says that he will fulfill his promise. Salasar is coming in the form of a black idol to fulfill.
Next morning Mohandas ji and the villagers welcomed the idol and Thakur Champawat with great fanfare along with Thakur Salam Singh of Salasar. In 1754, on the day of Shukla Navami, on Saturday, the statue of Hanuman ji was installed in Salasar village with complete rituals. On the day of Shravan Dwadashi, Mohandas ji became so engrossed in the service of Balaji that he decorated the idol with ghee and vermilion. From that time onwards, Balaji assumed his pre-seen form in which he carried Lord Rama and Lakshmana on his shoulders. He was now sporting a beard and moustache, tilak on his forehead, big eyebrows, big beautiful eyes and a mace on the mountain.
